Genertec contributes to building of China-Central Asia community with shared future

2023-05-24

The inaugural China-Central Asia Summit was held in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, from May 18 to 19. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan attended the summit at China's invitation.

As the first summit held offline by the heads of state of China and five Central Asian countries since China established diplomatic ties with them 31 years ago, the summit drew wide attention from the international community.

Since establishing diplomatic relations 31 years ago, China and the five Central Asian countries have continuously deepened pragmatic economic and trade cooperation, delivering tangible and substantial benefits to their people.

Since 2014, Genertec has actively responded to the needs of the five Central Asian countries and made great efforts to localize its operations in the five countries. It has carried out pragmatic cooperation with local partners in such fields as automobile production, infrastructure construction, cross-border e-commerce, medicine, pharmaceuticals and health care, making solid achievements.

Promoting the building of China-Central Asia community of health for all

On Nov. 5, 2022, the China-Central Asia Health Industry Alliance was established at the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE). As the president of the council of the Chinese working committee of the alliance, Genertec Meheco has actively facilitated cooperation between China and the five Central Asian countries in fields including trade promotion and product accessibility, project cooperation and investment, exchanges in information and policies, and epidemic prevention and control.

Continuously deepening cooperation in automobile production capacity expansion

In 2019, China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC), a subsidiary of Genertec, and Chinese automaker Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (JAC) became the controlling shareholders of Allur, one of the 100 champion enterprises supported by the national industrial revitalization program of Kazakhstan. So far, the new Allur has witnessed steady improvement in its performance and continuous growth in its production and sales. In 2022, the company produced 70,000 vehicles.

The Allur project has yielded fruitful results as expected by the leaders of China and Kazakhstan, promoted connectivity and mutually beneficial cooperation between the automobile industries of the two countries, and benefited the employment and economic development of Kazakhstan, becoming a model of China-Kazakhstan cooperation in automobile production capacity expansion.

Jointly building "Bright Path" of Kazakhstan

Genertec Xinxing has vigorously pressed forward with infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan to contribute to the country's continuous economic development and social stability since the country announced its development strategy of "Nurly Zhol," or "Bright Path", in 2014.

Genertec Xinxing has undertaken three projects concerning national highways in Kazakhstan, namely the Southwest Ring Road in Astana, the Merke-Burylbaytal highway in Jambyl Region, and the Kalbatau-Maikapshagai highway in East Kazakhstan Region.

The three highway projects, with their construction tasks involving a total length of 715 kilometers and their construction costs totaling $833 million, are representative of projects that benefit from the successful alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by China with Kazakhstan's "Nurly Zhol".

Cross-border e-commerce helps upgrade trade between China and Kazakhstan

On May 18, Kazakhstan's only online store in China officially opened. Tokayev and Yu Xubo, chairman of Genertec, witnessed the launching ceremony of the store, which operates on Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com.

Genertec Xinxing is in charge of the operations of the online store, which now sells more than 50 types of featured commodities imported from Kazakhstan with original packaging, including candies, chocolate, camel milk powder, black tea, macaroni, and safflower oil.

China is a friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner of Central Asian countries. As an international conglomerate headquartered in China, Genertec stands ready to continue deepening pragmatic cooperation with the governments and companies of the five Central Asian countries.

Taking the just-concluded China-Central Asia Summit as an opportunity, Genertec is making efforts to further expand all-round cooperation with its partners in the five Central Asian countries and bring their relations to a new level, thus contributing to regional and world peace, stability, development and prosperity.
